Cancer

It's hard to write this because it's all happening so fast it's hard to take it all in and accept it.

My Mum has throat cancer, it started in her tonsils and there's other small bits in different places in her throat.
2 weeks ago she had an operation to remove her tonsils and hopefully the tumour just behind them, they did remove the tonsils but they couldn't fully remove the tumour because of where it is. Last Thursday she met up with her consultant and other specialists. It has been decided she is having treatment over 12 weeks. Weeks 1,4,7 and 10 are going to consist of 4 days of chemotherapy, radiotherapy is going to start on week 6, every week till the end, she also needs some dental work done between week 1 and 4 as the radiotherapy will be going through her jaw and this can cause problems for the healthiest teeth and mum has a couple of weak ones so they are being removed.
They told her she would start chemo on Monday or Tuesday after dad trying all day to get through to them waiting for call backs and getting understandable annoyed they still didn't have a date or time until they called mum at about 11am today. Mum called dad who then went straight home from work to get her stuff and then went round to mum's work to pick her up and straight to the ferry. Only to be met with even more problems with the hospital. They had to wait till 7pm to get mum into her room because the guy who's room it was before had to wait from 2pm to 6pm for his meds so he could be discharged.
At least she's finally there and will start her treatment hopefully tonight through a cannula in her hand which she fainted at when she had it put in (she's not good with needles). She has a private room with her own wet room.

It's still hard to absorb it though, I'm really worried how all this treatment will affect her, will she still be the same person? I know she'll probably lose weight but she thinks that's good thing as she's overweight any way but how much is she going to lose?

I HATE CANCER!!!
